Mobile App Development. Mobile Optimization. Mobile Strategies.
By 2012, mobile browsing will surpass computer-based internet browsing. Are you ready for this change, or are you planning on playing catch up later?
Differences between Mobile Apps and Mobile Sites
A mobile app is just that, an app that is downloaded from the iTunes AppStore or Android Market. An app serves a distinct purpose and provides the user some value for installing it. Most small businesses typically don’t need mobile apps.
A mobile site on the other hand is needed by all. As internet browsing trends change, we will soon see the majority of users accessing the internet from some type of a smart device – iPhone, Android or BlackBerry device, or a tablet like the iPad. Most websites are accessible from these devices, but are not optimized for them. In fact, a new set of web standards has been developed called Responsive Design that adjusts the content and layout of your site based on the platform and/or browser a person is using while accessing your site. Unfortunately, this is not the defacto way of building websites (although it will be in the future), and this means your site will need to be coded for each appropriate platform.
